What people say about (Hakka Passion)

One of the best hakka restaurants in the East. I enjoyed hakka food after a very long time. Every dish we ordered was delicious. It is located in a quiet commercial plaza in Ajax. Has lots of

I thought of giving Hakka Passion a try for Chinese/Thai food so ordered a few items - Vegetable Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Vegetables and Vegetable Pad Thai. I specifically instructed the restaurant staff that the Vegetable Pad Thai and the Sweet and Sour Vegetables shouldn’t be too sweet and she said she will let the chef know. I was told that the order will be ready in about 15-20 mins but it actually took about 35 mins. Nevertheless, I picked up my order. It was time to open the food containers. The moment I opened the Vegetable Pad Thai, it gave a foul smell which was just intolerable. Despite that, I tasted a small bite and it tasted horrible. The look of the dish itself was evident that it was made wrongly. It was so bad that I felt like puking. (I am serious about it). The chef just mixed over-boiled Pad Thai noodles with some red sauce. It seems the restaurant did not know how to make a Pad Thai although they claim they make Thai dishes. I had to throw the entire Pad Thai in the garbage. I called the restaurant and complained about it. The lady started arguing that this is the way they make Pad Thai. It took me a while to convince her that it was just not eatable, that is when she accepted to replace it with some other dish. For the replacement, the next day, I ordered garlic fish dry just to be safe this time. It was kind of okay but gave a weird aftertaste. At least it was eatable without much issue. The Sweet and Sour Vegetables was no good in terms of taste. The red gravy had the American chop suey kind of flavour which was not what I expected from this dish. The only good thing was that it had enough veggies but unfortunately that didn’t work either and had to dispose it of as well. The Vegetable Fried Rice tasted just okay but the rice was a bit hard and dry. There weren’t enough veggies except for a few small pieces of broccoli. My experience was bad and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you’re craving authentic Chinese/Thai food. There are many other Hakka Chinese restaurants in the area that serve much better quality!

Great tasting food with the Hakka spices. Also good value for the money for the lunch specials. Had the Kung Po chicken with steamed rice.
