Wajih’s Steakhouse is a local, no-frills spot that feels more like a shawarma place than a traditional steakhouse (which makes sense since they serve shawarma too). We visited on a Thursday evening and the place was pretty empty, but the owner was kind and offered helpful recommendations on what to try. We ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the steak with mushroom sauce. The shawarma plate was made with high quality ingredients and had a slight edge over the usual takeout spots, but it didn’t stand out in any major way - it was decent, just not unique. The steak was well-cooked, and the mushroom sauce was delicious. The overall flavour had a very homemade feel—less of a restaurant-style experience, but still thoroughly enjoyable. Also, the caesar salad that was a side to the steak was the perfect compliment to both of our dishes and was very creamy and fresh! That said, we did find the price of the steak in particular a bit high given the lack of ambiance. If you’re looking for a casual bite and friendly service, it’s worth a try—but don’t expect your typical steakhouse vibe.
