What people say about (Watan Kabob - Dundas)

Mukesh Sharma

I recently visited Watan Kabob at their Dundas location and had a satisfying dining experience. The portions were impressively huge, offering great taste and excellent value for money. The restaurant was busy during dinner hours, which speaks to its popularity, though the cleaning standards were just okay. Ordering is done over the counter, and once the food is ready, you’ll be notified on a display to pick it up. I tried the chicken dinner, lamb dinner, and paneer, all of which were delicious. The portion sizes are generous—one plate is easily enough for two people. While the staff was just okay, the overall experience was pleasant. I’d definitely recommend Watan Kabob to anyone craving flavorful Afghan cuisine. It’s a great spot for hearty, shareable meals.

This is one of our favorite Afghan restaurants in Mississauga. We've eaten there many times and will continue to go. The food is delicious and offers a wide variety of Afghan dishes. It has a dine-in area but you normally order and pick up your own food from the counter. They have TVs in different position of the restaurant so you can wait your turn comfortably seated. Totally recommended!

Used to Be My Go-To Spot — Not Anymore I’ve been coming to Watan Kabob for over a year — every Thursday with my team. I was a regular. But after today, I won’t be back. The service has gone downhill. Three new staff members were working and the girl at the counter didn’t even acknowledge us. We were standing right in front of her — no greeting, no eye contact, nothing. It wasn’t until I got another staff member’s attention that we were helped. The food was also terrible. I’ve ordered the same thing for almost two years, and today I couldn’t even eat it. The chicken was burnt, rice was cold and stale, and when I told the staff, the girl touched the food with her bare hands — completely unacceptable. The naan was hard too. This is the sixth time in a row I’ve had a bad experience, but today was the last straw. I really miss the old manager who was always at the front and the other girl (possibly Russian?) who was kind and attentive. The new team just doesn’t compare. Watan Kabob, you lost a long-time loyal customer. ---
