Tried out Desi Hakka, a small spot tucked away in north Oshawa. With a name like that, I was expecting bold, desi-style flavors — you know, the chatpata, spicy, flavor-packed kind that hits like good South Asian street food. But honestly, it didn’t quite deliver. The Hong Kong Noodles and Chili Garlic Fried Rice were surprisingly bland — definitely not what you'd expect from a place with "Desi" in the name. The Chilli Chicken and Hakka Noodles somewhat saved the experience, with a bit more kick and flavor, but even they didn’t fully make up for the lack elsewhere. If you’re going to call yourself Desi Hakka, bring that fire, that spice, that unmistakable South Asian punch. Otherwise, it just feels like a regular Hakka joint trying to wear a desi mask. Not sure I’ll be heading back anytime soon.
