Nika Kitchen offers a truly authentic experience for those interested in traditional Persian dishes like Kale Pache and Ghorme Mashhadi. I recently tried Plate One from their kale pache menu and their Chef Special (Ghorme Mashhadi). The flavors were strong and well-prepared—especially the Ghorme Mashhadi, which I found quite enjoyable and would definitely recommend. However, I did notice that the meat didn’t taste very fresh, which slightly affected the overall flavor. The eye portion also had a noticeably off taste, indicating it may not have been as fresh as expected. One of the biggest disappointments was the garlic pickle served with the dish. I usually look forward to garlic pickle when visiting Persian restaurants, but unfortunately, this was the worst I’ve ever tried. The flavor was harsh, unbalanced, and didn’t complement the meal at all. While the food quality was good overall, the service experience was disappointing. After placing our order, we waited approximately 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Additionally, it took four different servers and 20 more minutes just to get a glass of warm water. One positive highlight of our visit was the owner’s warm and welcoming attitude. He was genuinely kind, attentive, and passionate about the food and customer experience, which added a nice personal touch to the atmosphere. They’ve also recently expanded their dining area, making it more spacious and comfortable for groups or families who want to try traditional Persian food. If I were to compare Nika Kitchen with Barreh Safed just across the street, I would personally rate Barreh Safed higher overall—for both service and food freshness.
