What people say about (Amir Des Sources (Pointe-Claire))

I got a Shish Taouk plate, the iceberg lettuce and the dressing was fine, nothing special. Potatoes are very overcooked; they are so mushy, they just break. Chicken was good but the rice was undercooked. I asked for ketchup packs and they though it funny. Would I go back? Well, no, the only reason I went back to try it again was to give it "One last chance" before I review it.

I pains me to have to write a negative review to Amir. It’s a staple Lebanese chain and I grew up having wonderful memories with family. I have approached the owner of this particular branch because of an accessibility issue: deceptively-marketed devices known as “air fresheners”. There was no opening to remove them. As you walk through the door, there is one in the entrance door. Air fresheners - have nothing in them that freshen the air. On the contrary, they decrease air quality significantly and are the root cause of many illnesses and disorders, including skin conditions, neurological problems, respiratory problems, hormonal and reproductive problems. They contain known dangerous and toxic chemicals to create the fragrance, well documented in the scientific and medical literature. They have no place in restaurants or anywhere in general, other than in hazardous wastes. They represent a barrier to accessibility to folks, especially those with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, asthma, migraines, fibromyalgia and the list goes on. I have also sent a message to head office and have received no response. Fragrance is a label that harms humans, non-humans and the environment by accumulating in the air, waterways and soils. Air purifiers on the other hand purify the air, especially those with activated charcoal and binders to remove formaldehyde, VOCs and other contaminants. It is my hope that they respond and that we can remove barriers and make Amir accessible to all. Other examples of barriers include cleaners with fragrance.

Reading other reviews, I guess I dodge a bullet when I went there today and the special is over. I'm not going to pay 18$ for a place that has very little chicken and I know from past experience that your plate is not worth 18$. Years ago, it was worth the price. Today it's a joke! Keep your raw chicken and soggy potatoes!
