What people say about (Karakoram Restaurant)

As far as Pakistani food goes I guess this is a pretty good spot in Vancouver haha my Pakistani born and raised friend says so anyway. I haven’t really been to Pakistan so I can’t say for sure but just based on my experience with Pakistani food in Canada, Karakoram is pretty good!! The chickpeas are my favorite that they served. The nihari was good but I’ve honestly had better in Calgary. The breads were good and tasty!! Overall good I guess, I’d come back if I was really craving Pakistani food. It’s also a very affordable place lol Also just to note it’s so weird that I asked for plain rice but they absolutely don’t have it/ can’t serve it. I personally find that weird just cause I know most places have plain basmati rice. Interiors can definitely be improved but I think that’s just the entire vibe they’re going for. Feels very mom and pop, it’s chill I guess.

Prabhjeet was AMAZING and so kind! It was my husband and my first time here and she was so sweet every time she came to check in with us. They had a lunch special so we ordered both specials- biryani special and 1/2 chicken karahi special. My brother in law and sister in law have been here and loved the mutton before. Today the chicken they would rate 4.5, so that is the only reason it’s not a 5star. Otherwise everything was great! Would definitely recommend this place to friends and we would definitely come back. Thank you for the great service Prabhjeet, you are so sweet!

I usually don’t write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so after being extremely disappointed with our experience at Karakoram. We were eager to try their food after seeing so many ads, but it ended up being the worst Pakistani meal we’ve ever had. We ordered Karahi with two pieces of roti, romali roti, and Chicken Biryani, hoping for authentic flavors, but what we got was oily, bland, and poorly made food. The Karahi lacked any real depth of flavor, and the Biryani was just greasy rice with overpowering masala—nowhere near authentic. If the chef had tasted it, they surely wouldn't have agreed to serve it. I'm writing this review because I want to warn others who might be influenced by fake ads and stories from some influencers who either don't try the food themselves or are doing it knowingly for their own benefit. There’s nothing worse than serving bad food that could affect people's health. I’ve always been a real fan of Pakistani food and loved the authentic taste I’ve had until now. Restaurants like this should stop serving food that tarnishes the reputation of real Pakistani cuisine. We went there with high expectations, but as a fan of authentic Pakistani food, we left without even eating much. We couldn't even take the leftovers. While the ambiance was okay and the portion size was more than enough, what good is quantity without quality? To make matters worse, my wife ended up vomiting after the meal, and her friend also became sick. This was a complete disappointment, and I cannot recommend this place. We even spoke to friends about it and were shocked by their similar experiences, though I’d rather not go into details. If possible, I’d rate this place negatively.
