What people say about (JD Fusion Smokehouse)

Jana & Arianne

Had the Hakka noodles as well as the Hong Kong noodles and both were good but very similar tasting which was rather disappointing. Based on the description we were under the assumption of two very different noodle dishes which it really wasn’t. Was also confused on why spaghetti noodles were used for an Asian style dish? The atmosphere however is beautiful and well decorated. Our server was great and was very attentive and detail oriented, making sure to check on us often. Overall, it was an okay experience. Have had takeout before and wasn’t too impressed so wouldn’t be a place we would return to.

I decided to walk during a snowstorm — snow energizes me. I walked about five kilometres, taking photos along the way, and my hands got quite frozen. A guy passed by and, when I asked for a place to grab a bite and warm up, he suggested JD Fusion. I had never tried Indian cuisine before. The attendant, who was polite and helpful, suggested a lighter option, but I was really hungry, so I went with the Jumbo Chicken Wings ($19.00), a very good coffee ($3.19), and the HST/GST ($2.88), totalling $25.67. When it was time to pay, my cards didn’t work despite multiple attempts. I called my bank and found out that I hadn’t authorized international use — although I had been in Greater Sudbury since Sunday and all previous card transactions had worked. It was confusing. Throughout the issue, the young woman who served me remained calm, polite, and truly tried to help solve the situation. Once the payment went through and I finished my meal, I asked if I could take some photos for a Google Maps review. She checked with the owner, who approved, and later she showed me a QR code on the counter for customer reviews. But then it got uncomfortable — she insisted that I submit the review while she watched, monitoring my ratings. What made things worse was the owner’s harsh tone towards her, which he used multiple times while I was still seated. It was unpleasant and unprofessional: 1) no one should be scolded in front of a customer like that — it’s degrading; 2) there was no crowd, I was the only customer in the restaurant. A few more things to note: the woman was presentable and attentive. The man, however, gave off a poor impression — no head covering, dishevelled hair, a short, yellowed T-shirt — not appropriate kitchen attire. I’ve been to many restaurants this week in Sudbury, and this contrast was quite striking. Looking through other Google reviews, I noticed most of the high ratings appear to come from within the Indian community. Some of the owner’s responses to negative feedback felt vague. Gratitude for happy customers is good, but real growth comes from addressing problems clearly and professionally. Just apologizing is not enough. As for the meal, the coffee was great, but the wings were plain roasted chicken parts without seasoning. Two sauces were served, but I barely touched them. I ate the chicken because I was hungry, but I’ve had better.
