Thunder Bay African Restaurant

We were looking forward to an African experience but were sadly disappointed. We were not greeted when we walked in, even though we were the only patrons. No smile, so hello. The restaurant lacked atmosphere. Some background African Music would have elevated the experience. The food was mediocre at best and quite expensive. It was clearly not freshly prepared. When I asked what certain things on the menu were, the hostess said "I don't know", which wasn't helpful for someone trying African cuisine for the first time. The drink variety was bare minimum and when I opened the bottle of pop, it was flat. It had expired a year ago. I love trying ethnic foods from across the globe but unfortunately I won't be back here.

I had the jollof rice and chicken, which was very good. Nice portion size, just the right amount of spice, plenty of flavour and friendly service. Will be back.

Loved my experience at Thunder Bay African Restaurant. Their service was great and the food was very delicious! The place was very neat and clean. When I went there, a lot of orders were coming in so she didn't want to serve the soft plantain cos some people have a preference for their plantain and she wanted me happy but I love soft plantain a lot so I told her to serve it that way. I love that she checked with me before she went ahead. Made me happy. My husband loved the food as well. We are now repeat customers! We ordered the Jollof rice, turkey and plantain. Loved it all!
